USA Track & Field Hall of Fame Banquet

USATF Minnesota invites you to attend the eleventh Hall of Fame induction of outstanding performers and contributors in Minnesota Track & Field history.

The induction process and ceremony has been organized by the USATF Minnesota Track & Field Hall of Fame Committee members. Six individuals will be included as 2010 Inductees and have been elected from a list of candidates by a voting group of well-qualified individuals.

The 2010 Inductees are:
Coach/Administrators: Merrill Fischbein, Bill Huyck and Larry Russ
Veteran Athlete: Harry Nash
Elite Athletes: Tom Heinonen and Stephanie Herbst-Lucke

The induction includes dinner, recognition and presentation of awards to our 2010 honorees.

When:    Friday, November 5, 2010. Social Hour 6:30 PM, appetizer and cash bar. Dinner at approximately 7:00 PM.

Cost:    Dinner is served family style and includes salad, entree (choice of two entrees), desert and beverage (coffee, tea, soda, milk) at a cost of $29.75 per person.

Hall of Fame

USATF Minnesota established the Minnesota Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1996 to recognize and honor outstanding performances and/or contributions by individuals to the sports of track & field, long distance running, cross country, and race walking in Minnesota.  Every other year, nominations are accepted by the three member Hall of Fame Committee, who then prepare a ballot and submit it to an established panel of voting members.  The Hall of Fame Banquet is held in November, honoring the year's inductees.

Nominations are possible in the following categories:

Elite Athlete
Veteran Athlete
Administrator/Coach

Nominees for Elite and/or Veteran Athlete should meet 2 of the following 3 criteria:

  1. Recorded important performance(s) while a resident of Minnesota.  To qualify as a Veteran, the performance must have been recorded 50 years prior to the current date.
  2. Minnesota high school or college graduate.
  3. Born in Minnesota, or a Minnesota resident a minimum of 10 years.

Criteria for Administrator or Coach:

Significant contribution to long distance running, track & field, cross country, or racewalking in Minnesota.
